| I do not believe that the building we play at in Attica is the actual Mudlavia Hotel main building. I believe the part we actually play in is an outbuilding, as indicated in a picture found on the Indiana Historical Society's website. Go to http://images.indianahistory.org/u?/P0391,658 (Thanks to the IHS for providing this picture). Look to the far left of the picture. The ground we play on is fairly flat. So is the ground by the building on the far left. Maybe there is some sort of connection between the former asylum there and us being nuts enough to play paintball. If anyone has any questions or wants me to do more research, let me know. If not for us and Team Attica, maybe just for the thought of knowing the place's past. If one wishes to see a couple of more pictures of the hotel, type in "Mudlavia" in the search box in the upper right hand corner. You will find more pics there. |

heres another pic of the place. the present ruins could be part of the hotel. it looks as if there is a hill like the one behind the building in the right part of the pics. i cant see a fireplace tho in the pic tho. it seems like a pretty obvious part of the building that would stand out. also, i dont see a roofed garauge thingy over a road that goes by the east side of the hotel. i wish it would say what direction this pic is. also it seems like there would have been more ruins or signs or buildings near by. ill use google world to look for a satilite pic of the area. do you know the address of one of the houses on the road?
***google maps satilite pics were taken during summer = / was hopeing they were taken in winter. when i get more free time ill look for old maps.*** |

If I recall correctly, the building we play in has windows at the top, with a roof for the entry right below it. The right side has a small set of steps, which I think are original. The right side seems to have had no connection to any building. Too bad that building I think it is isn't more clear. In the picture you posted, there is a white-ish colored part of the hotel to the left, with a chimney that looks like the one still there. That very well could be the building that's still there. This sport has now got me on another path: researching the field's history. I might ask IHS if they have any more details about it, so I can write a brief article about it for the team site. _________________ You improvise. You adapt. You overcome. (Gunny Highway)
